Bill is a 40-year veteran of the technology industry and a prominent leader in the Austin technology community with a distinguished career starting, managing and growing technology companies in Texas. Foros is focused on bringing its client-centric advisory model to the Austin and greater Texas technology community and Bill is a key part of this effort.
Bill has served as a Director of publicly-traded, Austin-based Silicon Laboratories, Inc. from 2000-2006 and from 2011 to the present. He previously served on the public company Boards of Convio (Board Chair, sold to Blackbaud in 2011), Entropic (Audit Committee, sold to MaxLinear in 2015) and Borderfree (Audit Committee, sold to Pitney Bowes in 2015). Bill also currently serves as a Director of several private companies including Sailpoint Technologies and Spiceworks.
Bill was employed as President of Silicon Labs from 2013 to 2016 and also as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President from 2006 to 2011. Prior to joining Silicon Labs, Bill was a general partner in the venture capital industry for five years, principally with CenterPoint Ventures. He is a Founder and Chairman of the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Central Texas.
Over his career, he has taken a leading role in the initial public offerings of two companies, has been involved in the development and sale of ten companies and has held a number of leadership and financial management positions at several public and private companies since 1975. These include: iTKO (Director— sold to CA in 2011); Hewlett-Packard (Vice President); Dazel Corporation (President and Chief Executive Officer— sold to Hewlett-Packard in 1999); IBM (Chief Operating Officer of the Tivoli business unit); Tivoli Systems, Inc. (Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer— went public in 1995 and sold to IBM in 1996); Convex Computer Corporation (Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Senior Vice President of Finance & Administration and Chief Financial Officer— went public in 1986 and sold to Hewlett-Packard in 1995); and Texas Instruments Inc. (Vice President and Controller, Data Systems Group and other financial management positions).
Bill resides in Austin, Texas. He earned a B.S. in Computer Science from Iowa State University and an M.S. in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon University.
