Foros Summit 2014: The Impact of Monetary Policy on Business
The Foros Summit, held at the historic Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington, D.C. on May 7-8, marked the fifth year anniversary of the founding of our firm. The Summit brought together business leaders and policymakers to discuss an important topic at the intersection of government policy and business activity: The Impact of Monetary Policy on Business. Jean Manas, our CEO and founder, delivered introductory remarks. Our guest speakers were leading economists and former policymakers Ted Truman, Alan Blinder, John Taylor, Harvey Rosen and Heidi Crebo-Rediker. These speakers outlined recent central bank policy and actions in response to the credit crisis, discussed the consequences of these actions, anticipated changes in policy and potential outcomes, addressed the potential effects on businesses and offered an international perspective on financial crises and foreign policy challenges. Neal Wolin, former Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, moderated a debate between Alan Blinder and John Taylor on the effectiveness of the Federal Reserve’s response to the credit crisis. Following these presentations, guests attended a celebratory dinner where they were joined by several members of Congress.
